About the role
Weâre looking for a Senior Caseworker (or âPathway Coachâ) to transform the lives of disadvantaged people by supporting them into stable jobs and homes.
Whatâs the role like?
Youâll be joining a team of values-driven and creative caseworkers while being individually responsible for supporting a caseload of people referred to Beam - our âmembersâ.
After an immersive training period, youâll help our members to picture a brighter future before guiding them through concrete steps to achieve their goals.
That means everything from teaching critical skills - like CV writing or house hunting - to coaching and developing vital levels of self-confidence.
This is a senior role with significant scope and progression opportunities that could include team management down the line or growing your impact as an individual contributor. Alongside delivering exceptional support yourself, you will play a key role in coaching and supporting colleagues and leading on strategic projects which step change our impact.

Youâll be
Independently managing a caseload - running remote and in-person meetings to support people into stable homes and jobs
Designing support for new cohorts - crafting action plans and appropriate training materials for new member groups that can be rolled out across the team
Role modelling excellence - looking to develop specialist focus that you can build into the team, coaching team members to expand their impact and, if interested, developing skills towards becoming a manager
Wearing your problem-solving hat - the people we support have unique barriers and youâll constantly find creative ways to overcome them and hunt down the best opportunities for progression
Working towards social impact targets - using our cutting-edge in-house tech tools to progress members towards their goals
Testing new ways of working - great senior caseworkers look to supercharge our operational model so Beam will scale to support millions of people
You are
Determined - changing lives is not easy and youâre someone who loves hard challenges
Humble and supportive - your members will have their ups and downs but youâll stick with them
Emotionally mature and confident - youâll need to set boundaries and know when to communicate clearly
Adaptable and resilient - youâre someone whoâs energised by ever-changing and fast-paced environments
An ideas person - youâre driven to find new and better ways of doing things and are comfortable leading on complex new projects
Willing and able to travel - support for members can often be delivered in-person (up to several times per week)
Youâll need
Experience - relevant experience in a fast paced work environment, like an intensive frontline casework role or a high growth start-up.
Strong communication skills - youâll regularly be communicating with a diverse group of members as well as internal stakeholders and our government partners
Experience and comfort with multi-tasking - youâll need to be comfortable moving forward many peopleâs cases each week
Compassion for people in tough situations - some of our members have been through very challenging times and youâll need strong listening skills and compassion
Resilience and a positive attitude - weâll be honest, there are countless easier jobs than being a caseworker, but almost none as meaningful
Respect for data-driven decision-making - you'll have experienced the importance of metrics, data-led decisions and tracking towards goals and KPIS
Extra languages are a cherry on top - right now, weâre on the lookout for Welsh and Ukrainian speakers!
Sound like you? Perhaps you donât feel you tick every box - thatâs OK, we encourage those who feel 70/75% confident with the role, to please hit âApplyâ, especially if youâre excited about helping kickstart a new era of opportunity for those left behind!
